Ceiling Fans
Having a ceiling fan keeps you feeling cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter while cutting down on energy costs. When buying a ceiling fan, these are important points to have in mind.
EFFICIENT PERFORMANCE
CFM or “Cubic Feet per Minute” is the measure- ment of how much air is being moved. The other measurement you want to know is the “Air Flow Efficiency.” AFE is the airflow on high divided by the watts used. The higher the number, the more efficient the fan. This information is on top of the fan box, as it is required by the EPA.
Ceiling fans can complement every design taste with varieties of colors and finishes. No longer is the ceiling fan the ugly duckling of home décor. Ceiling fans can be as simple or as ornate as the person choosing them.

To assure the best airflow, your fan must be at the correct height from the floor. When a fan is too high, you decrease the airflow and lose the cooling effect. Setting the proper height of a ceil- ing fan will vary in every room. The general rule of thumb is to set the blades 8 to 11 feet off the floor, and this is determined by the height of the ceiling, the room dimensions, and the aesthetics. The optimum mounting height for a ceiling fan
is 8 to 9 feet above the floor, with a minimum of 7 feet to the bottom of the blades for safety.
